Teacher Training

You love yoga. You have established a regular practice. You continue to look for ways to make more time for yoga. You have a sincere desire to deepen your understanding of and connection to the roots of yoga. You have an irresistible urge to share your love of yoga with your community.You may be ready to pursue our Yoga Teacher Training program!

Our 200-hour yoga-alliance approved teacher-training program runs annually; sometimes twice a year. Upon completion you will be certified by Indigo Wellness (a registered school through the Yoga Alliance), and eligible for certification through the Yoga Alliance as a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher. In addition to what is listed below, students will be expected to complete a minimum of 10 community service hours of teaching.

It is our desire to help you gain a greater, overall understanding of the history and essence of yoga and how it has evolved in our daily, modern lives. We are committed to helping you find your unique teaching style with confidence, as we will be thorough in our instruction in the following areas:

  • Asana (postures), Mantra (traditional Sanskrit chanting), & Pranayama (Breath Control)
  • History & Philosophy
  • Hands-on Adjustments in Postures
  • Verbal Cues and Instruction
  • Sequencing
  • Sanskrit names & pronunciations of the most widely used postures
  • General Anatomy (Gross & Subtle)
  • Use of Props, Blocks, & Modifications
  • How to Structure a Variety of Classes
  • Teaching Specialty Classes/Groups (Children, Pre-natal, Seniors, etc.)
  • Exploration of a Variety of Styles (Ashtanga (as taught by Manju Pattabhi Jois, Richard Freeman & Suddha Weixler), Hatha, Vinyasa Krama (as taught by Srivatsa Ramaswami), Yin Yoga (as taught by Paul Grilley), Hot Yoga, and more
